How we operate

To show our commitment to protecting and regenerating ecosystems for the benefit of all we operate according to a balance of the 4Cs — Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce.   We feel this ensures that travel experiences have a positive impact and that  our hospitality project is socially and financially sustainable.

Global Ecosphere Retreat (GER)
As such we plan to become certified GER by The Long Run, a sustainable travel movement that helps business, nature and people work together for a better future.

LEED standard
As to our building methods, we will attain to the United States Green Building Council.  Whenever practical, we will go for the LEED Gold or higher standard.

LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. LEED certification provides independent verification of a building’s green features, allowing for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of resource-efficient, high-performing, healthy, cost-effective buildings. LEED is the triple bottom line in action, benefiting people, planet and profit.

It is, however, not geared towards the tropical environment we encounter in Panama.  That’s why we also follow the guidelines of the Singapore Greenbuilding Council.  Singapore has a similar climate to that of Panama.

Sustainable Hotel
We also follow the guidelines of Conservation International on siting, designing and building a sustainable hotel.

Environmental management
In our operations we follow the industry guide on sustainable operation as published by the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (formerly known as the International Tourism Partnership).
